MPhil Economics Program
Program Duration:
2 Years (4 semesters)
- Extension allowed: Maximum One Year Further extensions by competent authority on the merits of the case.
Semester Schedule:
- Spring Semester (March - July)
- Fall Semester (October - February)
- Summer Semester (August - September) offers deficiency or repeat courses.
Program Structure:
- 24 Credit-Hour Course Work plus 6 Credit-Hour Dissertation OR 30 Credit-Hour Course Work
Course Delivery:
- Evening / Weekend Classes
Assessment:
- Assignments: 25 points
- Mid-Term Test: 25 points
- Terminal Examination: 50 points
Eligibility Criteria:
- MA/MSc or 4-year Bachelors in: Economics, Applied Economics, International Economics or any of its branches or applications.
- MA/MSc/MBA/MCom, with at least 12 credit hour courses comparable to Economics courses and/or research courses. (In case of lack of comparable courses, the HOD will recommend deficiency course work to be completed as part of M.Phil program).
- Preston GET with minimum score of 60% or NTS GAT General Test with minimum cumulative score of 50%.
- Satisfactory Interview with the Departmental Admission Committee of the faculty concerned.
Other Requirements:
GPA:
- Minimum GPA required for the award of MPhil degree = 2.5/4.0 (However, candidates who wish to pursue PhD, must secure a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0)
- Minimum Class Attendance: 75%
Thesis:
a. Successful Defense
b. Approval by Thesis Supervisor
c. Approval by one External Supervisor
d. Plagiarism Test (Turnitin) Similarity Index: ≤19%
